Welcome!
Hi all, Greetings to our on-line conference! In the coming days we will be reading and discussing our papers here. Looking forward to it!
Welcome and Invitation to VIC CineClub
Dear authors,
I would also like to welcome you to IAMCR 2023! I am sure we will have a lively discussion, both here and face to face in Lyon!
I would also like to take the opportunity to invite you to VIC CineClub, which I am curating. This is a virtual space for interaction, where all members of IAMCR sections and working groups are invited to share their comments on selected pieces of high-quality world cinema. Currently, in homage to France as host country of IAMCR, we are discussing 5 outstanding French films from past and present: “Breathless” (1960), “Muriel” (1963), “Swimming Pool” (2003), “Rust and Bone” (2012) and “Titane” (2021). Do you want to give us your feedback on one of these films? Just send me an e-mail with your comments and become part of our experience!
We are looking forward to reading and hearing from you!
Thomas Wiedemann, vice-chair of VIC (thomas.wiedemann@ifkw.lmu.de)

CHALLENGE TO BE ANSWERED
DEAR AUTHORS! I defy you to explain why your submission is part of this session! You have to analyze the title and verify if it is appropriate for your submission and how you can fit your submission inside the title! It is a challenge! Have a nice Sunday answering my question! Denize Araujo denizearaujo@hotmail.com
Re: CHALLENGE TO BE ANSWERED
This is a great challenge, Denize! Thank you for posting it to this group!
I think Jesse's and my submission fits into the title of "Innovation Techniques" because the type of AR we have been working with explores new territory of integration between print and physical dioramas with screen-based content, and considers accessibility as folks can use their own mobile devices to view and interact with content. AR, VR and MR offer a lot of possibilities for innovative storytelling, while also potentially impacting human connection in critical ways.
Re: CHALLENGE TO BE ANSWERED
Well, thank you for setting the stage, and I must say, the spotlight seems to be shining perfectly on our submission for this session. The session name "Innovation Techniques: VR, AR, Metaverse" appears to be custom-made for our study titled "Performance and Metaverses: A Foundational Study on Live Theatre in Social Virtual Reality Platforms." I mean, the session title and our study title are practically finishing each other's sentences! Our research is centered around VR, a technology that forms a core part of this session's theme. By investigating live theatre's application within social virtual reality platforms, we bring an innovative perspective to VR usage, which is traditionally more associated with gaming or simulations. Moreover, our work discusses performances in metaverses, aligning with the 'Metaverse' part of the session title. As metaverses are shared, collective virtual spaces, they offer unique opportunities for theater and performance, further pushing the boundaries of innovation. In short, it's like our submission and this session were on two separate AR-supported hiking trails, and now they've met at the peak, ready to enjoy the panoramic view of innovation in VR, AR, and the Metaverse. So, to say our study fits the session would be an understatement - it's more like a snug virtual reality glove providing tactile feedback!
