Community Communication and Alternative Media: Weaving Diversities, Building Solidarities
The Journal of Alternative & Community Media (JoACM) is inviting submissions for a Special Issue featuring research presented at the 2026 Annual Conference of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), held in Galway, Ireland, from 28 June to 2 July 2026.
The deadline for submission is 2 October 2026.
The Special Issue, titled “Community Communication and Alternative Media: Weaving Diversities, Building Solidarities,” will highlight recent research on community communication and alternative media, including topics such as community solidarities, environmental and communicative justice, digital activism, decolonial and Indigenous approaches, transformative communication practices, and emerging theoretical, methodological and empirical perspectives.
- The Call is open exclusively to scholars who presented papers in the CAM Section at IAMCR 2026.
Authors are encouraged to develop their conference papers into full scholarly articles. All submissions will undergo the journal’s regular double-anonymous peer-review process.
