The Gender and Communication Section and the Department of Media Studies, Notre Dame University, Louaize (NDU), are pleased to announce a webinar celebrating International Women's Day.
Monday, 9 March @12:00 UTC/GMT
This webinar will critically examine the construction and impact of women as symbolic figures within socio-political movements. It will explore how women are selected, elevated, and sometimes co-opted to represent larger causes, and what happens when their personal narratives become tied to a movement’s identity. The discussion will explore both the power this representation can wield, as seen in historical and modern figures, and the potential pitfalls and pressures placed upon them as individuals.
The panel will not only highlight celebrated icons but also examine the stories of women who have been marginalized or erased, revealing the complex dynamics of representation. Gender, media, communication experts and academics will take part in this timely discussion. We will send the zoom link for the webinar to the registered participants.
