IAMCR 2026 will be hosted by the University of Galway in Ireland, from 28 June to 2 July 2026.
At the closing plenary in Singapore, Andrew Ó Baoill, Chair of the Galway Local Organising Committee, introduced the conference theme Peripheries and Connections: Media, Communication, and Transformation, and invited participants to critically explore how marginality and global interconnection shape media and communication systems, and to reflect on the ways media navigate and challenge boundaries, geographical and conceptual, in a rapidly transforming world.
