This Section fosters research emphasising socio-psychological and cognitive-psychological processes at work in the production and consumption of standardised media content, mediated interpersonal communication by mobile phone or chat and interactive media such as computer games and robots. It places considerable emphasis on phenomenological approaches to the media and the role of communication and media in families and households.

erythrina_caffraThe Mediated Communication, Public Opinion & Society Section invites submissions for its open sessions at the IAMCR annual conference that will be held in Durban, South Africa, July 15-19, 2012. The overall conference theme is 'South North Conversations'.

The deadline for submissions is February 14, 2012. (For more information on submissions and decisions, see below)

Our section firstly encourages submissions that relate theoretical and empirical work that is relevant to the overall theme of the conference whether on mediated communication use and implications to South and North Conversations or on the implications of media and public opinion to conversations or the lack of conversations among South and North nations or within nations.

istanbulThe Mediated Communication, Public Opinion & Society section invites submissions for its open sessions at the IAMCR that will be held in Istanbul, Turkey, July 13-17, 2011. The overall conference theme is: "Cities, Creativity, Connectivity"

The role of mediated communication for creativity and connectivity became a central issue in the everyday life and is a central subject for research on its implication on private and public issues. Public opinion and its interrelations with media are central to the empowerment of citizens of the cities and to the enhancement of their quality of life. Our section will endorse the general theme and encourage our members to submit research papers around these issues.

braga_2010The Mediated Communication, Public Opinion & Society Section invites submissions for its open sessions at the IAMCR that will be held in Braga (Portugal) 2010 from July 18-22. The overall conference theme is "Communication and Citizenship. Rethinking Crisis and Change".

The role of mediated communication in the creation and presentation of Public Opinion became a central issue in the actualization of Citizenship and how to cope with crisis and change in democratic and non democratic societies and communication research in the last decades did not ignore it significance. Our section will endorse the general theme and encourage our members to submit research papers around this issue.
