Announcements -- IAMCR public list

About Announcements

Visit the IAMCR website

IAMCR maintains this list for announcements of interest to IAMCR members and the communications research community at large.

Postings to the list can include:
(-|-) IAMCR official news and announcements: Notices of IAMCR activities, publications, reports, meetings, etc..
(-|-) External news & announcements: News of IAMCR member events, external events, requests for information, new publications, job postings, etc.

List policies are designed to be friendly to subscribers while avoiding spam and ensuring that content is relevant to IAMCR members and the media and communication research community. Details of the list policies include:
(-|-) if a message is from an email address that is subscribed to the list and has previously posted a legitimate message, then it is automatically let through without delay unless it is larger than 800k, or is not specifically and unqiuely addressed to the list. (i.e. if the list address is in the BCC field, or if the message is sent to a large number of addresses in addition to the list). In these cases the message is held to be approved by a moderator and may be approved or rejected depending on the specifics of the case.
(-|-) if a message is from an email address that is subscribed to the list but has not previously sent a legitimate message to the list, then the message is held until approved by a moderator. Once it is determined that it is a legitimate message from a legitimate person, then all future messages from that email address are approved automatically. This is to prevent spammers or bots from subscribing to the list and then spamming it.
(-|-) if a message is sent from an email address that is not subscribed to the list, the message is rejected and a message is sent to the sender explaining why it was rejected.
(-|-) if one or more inappropriate messages are distributed to the list from a previously authorised email address, then future messages from that address may be held for evaluation by the moderators. Examples of such messages include spam, viruses, content that is not specifically of interest to IAMCR members and the media and communication research community, messages from hacked email accounts, etc.
