Communicating India’s Soft Power: Buddha to Bollywood

In recent years, India has emerged as a major economic and political power: on the basis of purchasing-power parity, it was the world’s third largest economy in 2012. Yet the country’s cultural influence outside India has not been adequately analysed in academic discourses. As the world’s largest democracy with a vibrant and pluralist media system, India offers an excellent case study of the power of culture and communication in the age of mediated international relations.
IAMCR 2014: CfP - Deadline 10 February
IAMCR invites submissions of abstracts for papers and panel proposals for the 2014 IAMCR conference to be held from 15 -19 July, 2014 at Hyderabad, India. The deadline to submit your abstract is midnight GMT on 10 February 2014. This deadline will not be extended.
Papers from 2013 conference available online
A limited number of papers presented at IAMCR's 2013 conference held in Dublin, Ireland from 25-29 June, 2013 are now available for download. The papers are only available to current IAMCR members. Seventy-four of the more than 1,500 papers accepted for presentation can be downloaded in PDF format. Click here to see a list of the papers. You must be logged into the site to download them.
IAMCR offers communication policy research grants
With support from the Media Program of the Open Society Foundations, IAMCR is offering up to five grants for research conducted by young and emerging scholars. IAMCR's Global Media Policy Working Group, Emerging Scholars Network and Communication Policy Task Force will oversee, administer and award the grants.
