New books by IAMCR members

New books by IAMCR membersTwo new books by IAMCR members have been recently released. These books cover the study of communications in the rapidly changing Chinese context and the study of regulatory issues that have a significant impact on freedom of expression.

Communication in China: Political Economy, Power, and Conflict by Yuezhi Zhao analyzes the key dimensions of the transformation in China's communication system since the early 1990s and examines the highly fluid and potentially explosive dynamics of communication, power, and social contestation during China's rapid rise as a global power.

Broadcasting, Voice, and Accountability by Steve Buckley, Kreszentia Duer, Toby Mendel and Seán Ó Siochrú with Monroe E. Price and Marc Raboy, provides development practitioners with an overview of the key policy and regulatory issues involved in supporting freedom of information and expression and enabling independent public service media. Country examples illustrate how these norms have been institutionalized in various contexts.
