IAMCR - International Association for Media and Communication Research

IAMCR announced the winners of the Schiller and Smythe Awards at its 2008 Congress in Stockholm on 23 July.

Cho-wen Chu was awarded the IAMCR Prize in Memory of Herbert I. Schiller for the paper "A comparative Review of Media Globalization in China and Taiwan", and Sara Bannerman  received the IAMCR Prize in Memory of Dallas W. Smythe for her contribution "Berne Buster: Canada and the Berne Convention, 1887-1908".

The results of the 2008 IAMCR elections were announced during the opening session of the IAMCR Congress on Monday 21 July in Stockholm

Annabelle Sreberny has been elected as the new President of IAMCR. John Downing and Ruth Teer-Tomaselli are the newly elected Vice-Presidents. Ole Prehn was reelected Secretary General and Beate Josephi is the new Treasurer. See below the complete list of newly elected positions.

IAMCR will hold its General Assembly during its 20-25 July, 2008 Congress in Stockholm, Sweden. The Assembly will be held on 23 July from 16:30 to 19:00.

The results of the postal election of president, officers and international council will be announced at the meeting as will the winners of IAMCR's Schiller and Smythe awards.
